The Therapeutic Radiographer will be responsible for delivering radiotherapy treatments using linear accelerators at both the main and satellite sites. The radiographer will work as part of a team, independently handling a daily caseload of patients. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate treatment records, ensuring patient care, and participating in equipment quality assurance. The role also involves contributing to the training of junior staff and students.

Main Duties

1. Clinical Responsibilities:
   

   • Deliver radiotherapy treatments using linear accelerators under supervision.
     
   • Calculate and record treatment doses accurately, maintaining proper documentation.
     
   • Assess and monitor patient conditions, providing care throughout treatment.
     
   • Report equipment faults or incidents to senior staff promptly.
     
   • Participate in daily equipment checks and routine quality assurance processes.
     

2. Patient Care:
   

   • Ensure the well-being of patients by communicating treatment information and addressing individual needs.
     
   • Maintain and update patient appointment schedules as required.
     
   • Clean and maintain treatment areas and equipment, adhering to infection control policies.
     

3. Training and Development:
   

   • Participate in the department’s preceptorship program and complete necessary training to develop competencies.
     
   • Assist in the training of student radiographers and assistant practitioners.
     
   • Stay informed of new developments in radiotherapy through relevant training and courses.
     

4. Compliance and Safety:
   

   • Adhere to Trust procedures in compliance with ionising radiation regulations.
     
   • Follow health and safety protocols and infection prevention policies.
