The Consultant Oncologist will play a key role within the Non-Surgical Cancer Services at the hospital. This position involves a broad range of responsibilities, including clinical care, research, teaching, and participation in clinical governance activities. The successful candidate will work closely with other consultants to provide specialized care and will contribute to ongoing departmental research and innovation.
Main Duties:
Clinical Responsibilities:
Provide clinical leadership and manage site-specific workloads, particularly in Breast and Colorectal oncology.
Offer expert clinical opinions and take full responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and clinical audits to ensure high standards of care.
Engage in clinical governance and ensure adherence to evidence-based practices.
Research & Innovation:
Actively contribute to the research activities within the oncology department.
Support the development of innovative practices and participate in clinical trials.
Teaching and Training:
Provide guidance and support to junior medical staff and medical students.
Participate in continuing medical education (CME) and training programs.
Administrative & Management Duties:
Participate in the medical leadership and management within the oncology services.
Engage in the planning and development of service delivery models within the department.
