Patient Assessment & Diagnosis
|
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments and evaluations of
patients with rheumatic symptoms.
- Take comprehensive patient histories and perform relevant physical
examinations.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and clinical guidelines to arrive at
accurate diagnoses.

Disease Management
|
- Formulate and implement individualised treatment plans.
- Monitor disease progression and modify management as needed.
- Provide long-term care and follow-up for chronic autoimmune and
inflammatory conditions.
|
Diagnostic Procedures
|
- Perform joint aspiration and analysis, muscle biopsies, and skin
tests when necessary.
- Interpret imaging such as X-rays, MRIs, and ultrasounds specific to
rheumatologic pathology.
- Collaborate with laboratory and radiology for timely diagnostics.
|
Medication Management
|
- Prescribe disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs),
corticosteroids, and biologics.
- Monitor for adverse effects and treatment response.
- Educate patients on drug safety and adherence.
|
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
|
- Engage in case discussions with orthopedic surgeons,
neurologists, and dermatologists.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care for complex cases.
- Refer to allied health services such as physiotherapy, occupational
therapy, and nutrition.

Joint Injections
|
- Administer corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid injections to
affected joints.
- Guide patients through the benefits and risks of procedures.
- Maintain aseptic technique and document outcomes.

Education & Supervision
|
- Supervise junior doctors, residents, and interns.
- Organize teaching sessions and clinical workshops.
- Provide performance feedback and assist in appraisals.

Documentation
|
- Maintain high-quality, accurate, and confidential medical
records.
- Use EMR systems effectively and ensure compliance with QCHP standards.
- Prepare case summaries and referral letters when required.

Quality Improvement
|
- Lead and participate in audits, incident reviews, and
morbidity/mortality meetings.
- Support initiatives to improve clinic efficiency and patient satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and accreditation standards.
|
CME Participation
|
- Attend national and international rheumatology conferences.
- Participate in journal clubs and in-house training.
- Stay updated on latest developments and integrate evidence-based practices.
|
Patient Education
|
- Conduct counseling sessions on lifestyle modification, exercise,
and joint care.
- Distribute educational materials and host patient Q&A sessions.
- Promote patient empowerment in managing chronic illness.
|
Community Engagement
|
- Contribute to public awareness campaigns for early detection of
rheumatic diseases.
- Participate in screening drives and health fairs.
- Represent the department at community and corporate wellness programs.

Research & Development
|
- Initiate or contribute to clinical research projects.
- Publish case studies or articles in rheumatology journals.
- Foster a research culture within the department.
