Staff Nurse
Provide Comprehensive Nursing Care:
Perform all nursing duties in compliance with facility policies, procedures, and the nursing scope of service.
Deliver assigned nursing care practices, including but not limited to:
Assisting physicians during medical procedures.
Taking, reporting, and documenting vital signs.
Accurately carrying out physician orders.
Preparing and administering medications as per unit or department protocols.
Monitoring, assessing, re-assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans.
Responding professionally to patient needs and demands.
Emergency Room-Specific Duties:
Perform patient triage, identify priority cases, and determine care needs based on triage levels.
Conduct patient assessments, identify urgent care needs, initiate emergency management, and refer to physicians as required.
Assist physicians with physical exams, including vital signs, history taking, and patient assessments. Observe and re-assess patients for changes in condition.
Support emergency procedures such as suturing simple lacerations, wound care, and other interventions.
Administer medications, prepare injections, start IVs, and ensure proper documentation of all administered medications.
Monitor and record patient responses to medications.
Perform phlebotomy, collect lab specimens, label them correctly, and send them for testing.
Place patients on cardiac and vital sign monitors as needed.
Perform 12-lead ECGs and "Point of Care" tests, reporting results and critical values as per policy.
Actively participate in Code Blue situations following facility protocols.
Patient and Family Education:
Conduct patient and family education on health care topics and provide necessary health teachings.
Inventory and Equipment Management:
Request and maintain adequate stock levels of medical and non-medical supplies.
Ensure the cleanliness, functionality, and availability of equipment daily.
Perform preventive maintenance checks, troubleshoot malfunctions, and coordinate with the biomedical department for repairs.
Validate and check ambulance equipment, medications, and supplies as per shift assignments.
Infection Control and Waste Management:
Adhere to facility policies for disposing, labeling, and handling biohazard materials.
Follow waste management regulations and linen management practices.
Professional Development:
Continuously update nursing knowledge, techniques, and practices to provide safe, holistic patient care.
Attend educational workshops, establish professional networks, and participate in unit projects and activities.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, colleagues, and management.
Adhere to the chain of command and maintain confidentiality of patient, family, colleague, and facility information.
